This December, Pack 916's Cobra den visited the A–o Nuevo state park, which is located on the California coast a little north of Santa Cruz. This is the annual meeting/mating location for many elephant seals, who are in town from a summer of dining in the Alutian islands in Alaska. The male elephant seals weigh up to 5000 lbs.

We went on a guided tour and saw many of the elephant seals up close -- about 25 feet distant. We saw some of the juniors play-fighting, and got to see a fight between two of the largest males too.
